Tacoma, WA , September 16, 2012 — FabLab, the first membership-based do-it-yourself workshop and fabrication studio in Tacoma, has selected a location in downtown Tacoma. “We are conveniently located across the street from Rock Pizza and a short walk from the University of Washington campus in Tacoma” said Steve Tibbitts, founder of FabLab.

Opening in October, FabLab’s downtown Tacoma location at 1938 Market will offer hobbyists, inventors, entrepreneurs, artists and students access to 3D-Printers, Laser cutters, CNC machines, CAD stations and other high-tech shop equipment.

“Our goal” said Scott Wallace, Director of Membership, “is to provide an environment that fosters creativity and acts as a gathering place for all kinds of creative people and activities.” FabLab makes that goal all the more accessible for South Puget Sound residents who are looking for ways to get back to the art of MAKING THINGS. FabLab lowers the barrier to creativity by making tools and classes available to everyone. “FabLab is a welcome addition to Tacoma and natural addition to Tacoma’s creative scene” said Don McLane, lecturer at UW-T “we have students that will take full advantage of the facility almost immediately.”
